Thank you for taking the time to download Mad Bomber! It is based on an old Activision game I used to like named Kaboom! Mad Bomber! is an updated version which is just as fast paced and addictive as the original. The graphics and sound are 100% original.
THE OBJECT
The object of Mad Bomber! is to catch the falling bombs and dynamite dropped by an insane escaped convict. Your only defense is a stack of buckets (used to extinguish the fuse) which you control. You begin with three buckets, but the number decreases whenever you miss a bomb. As the level increases, the bombs come faster and are much harder to catch.
THE CONTROLS
Normally, you should use the mouse to maneuver your stack of buckets at the bottom of the screen. You may chose to control your stack of buckets with the keyboard, but frankly, it will be impossible to reach the higher levels without the mouse. I'll most likely eliminate this possibility in the future. Currently, there is no way to pause the game but pressing 'q' during game play will end the current game.
SCORING
The bombs and dynamite are worth 50 and 100 points, respectively. The specials are worth whatever they appear to be. The 'Level' special is not worth any points, but you will be automatically transported to the next level.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
In order to play Mad Bomber!, you'll need at least 1.5M of free RAM and about 350K of free hard drive space. Mad Bomber! will run only on system 7.0+. You must also have at least a 640x480 color monitor. Finally, Mad Bomber! draws directly to the screen in order to provide the smoothest animation possible. If you've had problems before with games that operate in this manner, you will with Mad Bomber! as well. However, I think you'll find that for most people these requirements are pretty average nowadays. If your system is incompatible, and you really wish Mad Bomber! would run on your system, drop me a line. Future versions can always change.
A WORD ABOUT REGISTRATION
If you intend to keep Mad Bomber!, you are required to send the small registration fee of $10.00 US. Your registration will entitle you to free upgrades as well as first notification of my newest shareware releases. Mad Bomber! will create a registration form in its folder and automatically write your personalized registration number on the form. All you need to do is print the form (you can use Teach Text or import the file with WordPerfect, etc) , fill out the required information, and be sure to include the small $10.00 US registration fee (make checks payable to Spencer Seidel). I will mail or e-mail you (your choice) the unlock code needed to eliminate those pesky registration reminders.
A WORD ABOUT UPLOADING MAD BOMBER!
Feel free to upload Mad Bomber! to any commercial online services as well as local BBS'. If you decide to do so, make sure that Mad Bomber! is in its custom folder and contains all of the files with which it came:
1) the Mad Bomber! application file
2) the 'How to Play Mad Bomber!' file
*NOTE* Before uploading, remove your Mad Bomber! registration form. This is a
personal file uniquely created for each individual user. Don't worry, the
next time you play Mad Bomber!, a new registration number and form
will be generated.
If you are a registered user, please refrain from uploading any registered copies of Mad Bomber! After all, if you were honest enough to register Mad Bomber!, why shouldn't everyone else be as well?
